  1. Welcome to Matrix Software's Automated ShareWare Catalog System. ASC for short.
  2.  
  3. This catalog disk contains over 300 of the very best shareware programs for
  4. your IBM (or compatible) computer.
  5.  
  6. Program disks are $2 each and available on 5 1/4" disks only.
  7.  
  8. Shipping charges are $1.50 for the first 3 disks and 20 cents for each
  9. additional disk.
  10.  
  11. Although we only sell our program disks to ASC club members, we have made it
  12. very easy to become a member.
  13.  
  14. Membership may be acquired along with your first order.
  15.  
  16. Membership dues are $2 per month and include 1 free program disk selection for
  17. each month of paid membership.
  18.  
  19. There are 4 membership options to choose from:
  20.  
  21. 1. Three month membership $6
  22. 2. Six month membership $12
  23. 3. Nine month membership $18
  24. 4. Twelve month membership $24
  25.  
  26. After you have had a chance to look through the catalog and mark the disks you
  27. want, you will be allowed to choose one of the memberships.
  28.  
  29. You should always keep the free disk policy in mind when selecting membership
  30. options.
  31.  
  32. For example if you have selected 6 program disks, you might as well choose the
  33. 6 month membership since all 6 disks would be free with your paid membership.
  34.  
  35. You may order additional disks while you are a member at $2 each + shipping.
  36.  
  37. Memberships may be renewed at any time so long as the new expiration date is
  38. not more than 13 months in advance of the current date.

  40. The ASC catalog disk is very easy to use and place orders from.
  41.  
  42. With a printed catalog, most of us turn immediately to the section that would
  43. be most likely to have the kind of programs we are interested in at the time.
  44.  
  45. We would scan quickly to see if something of interest would jump out at us.
  46.  
  47. If we find something, we sometimes make a mark by it so we can find it again
  48. quickly, when and if we decide to order.
  49.  
  50. That's pretty much the way ASC works except it lets you select programs to
  51. display from KEY WORDS or phrases.
  52.  
  53. You are going to be pleasantly surprised at how helpful this is in finding the
  54. programs you want, quickly and easily.
  55.  
  56. After you finish reading this information and return to the Program Categories
  57. screen, select item 1 to load the ShareWare catalog into memory.
  58.  
  59. After the catalog is loaded the first page will be displayed on your screen.
  60. (Six programs per page)
  61.  
  62. You can now move through the catalog with the cursor control keys as follows:
  63.  
  64. Home - Will always display the first page of the catalog.
  65. End - Will always display the last page of the catalog.
  66. Pg Up - Moves you up or backward in the catalog.  
  67. Pg Dn - Moves you down or forward in the catalog.
  68. Up Arrow - Moves the HI-LITER (reverse video) up on the page.
  69. Down Arrow - Moves the HI-LITER down on the page.

  71. You may browse through the catalog one program/page at a time or, you can let
  72. your computer find the program(s) that are of interest to you by using the
  73. <F>ind feature of ASC.
  74.  
  75. Suppose you are looking for a good Mailing List program.
  76.  
  77. Type <F>. At the bottom of the screen you will see a message;
  78.  
  79. Enter phrase to search for:
  80.  
  81. Type mail, list or mail list and press <Enter>.
  82.  
  83. ASC will do a global search and display all programs with any match it finds
  84. in the program name or description to the search phrase.
  85.  
  86. Sometimes there are lots of matches to the search phrase.
  87.  
  88. Suppose you have a computer with a VGA graphics adapter and you want to see
  89. the programs that will take advantage of your hardware.
  90.  
  91. Press <F> to find, then search for VGA or vga (search is not case sensitive).
  92.  
  93. ASC will pause and display a Press any key to continue message after six
  94. programs have been displayed.
  95.  
  96. If a program comes up that you think you might want to order, you need to
  97. mark it.
  98.  
  99. The best way to <M>ark programs while you are in a FIND or SEARCH mode is to
  100. find the program again, this time by order number.
  101.  
  102. Press <F> to find, then type the order number of the desired program and press
  103. <Enter>.
  104.  
  105. NOTE: The <F>ind and <S>earch features can be used to enter a new search
  106. phrase even while a search is in progress.
  107.  
  108. When the program appears on the screen with the "No more matches found"
  109. message, press any key to exit the search mode.
  110.  
  111. You can mark programs of interest by pressing <M> when the desired program is
  112. being Hi-Lited on your screen.
  113.  
  114. When you mark programs, a √ mark will be placed in front of the order number
  115. for that program and it will appear bright on your screen. (Red if you have
  116. a color monitor)
  117.  
  118. To review the programs that you have marked, press <R>.
  119.  
  120. Un-mark programs by pressing <U> with the Hi-Liter over the marked program.
  121.  
  122. When you are done selecting programs, press <Esc> to get back to the Program
  123. Categories page.
  124.  
  125. The maximum number of program disks per order is 35. If you need to order more
  126. you will need to use more than one order form.
  127.  
  128. At the Program Categories page, press <4> to review your marked programs and
  129. complete the order.
  130.  
  131. All orders are subject to availability. If any program disks are back ordered,
  132. they will be sent to you within 10 days with no additional shipping charges,
  133. or you may request a substitution or refund on those items.
  134.
